According to ancient Jewish folk beliefs, the Hamsa is the protective Hand of God which wards off the evil eye.
Symbols often incorporated into the Hamsa are the blue eye of God, (blue being the color of water, symbol of life and the color of the protective sky above us), fish, (immune to the evil eye because they are covered in water and water is equated with life), and doves, symbols of peace.
On this lovely Hamsa, a pewter dove hovers above the brass protective hand.
Shalom, the Hebrew word for peace, is handcut from the brass at the top.
The eye of God is blue stained glass surrounded by two swimming fish cut from the metal, and enameled fish dangle from the fingers.
A beautiful amulet to hang in your home!
Makes a perfect house gift!
